ActivityTimer Privacy Policy
ActivityTimer keeps everything you record on your own device. We don't collect, receive, or share any of it.
In short
- There is no account or sign-in.
- Your activities, sessions, and settings are stored only on your device.
- The app doesn't connect to the internet, and it has no ads, analytics, or tracking.
- You can export your data to a CSV file, which is saved wherever you choose.
- You can erase your data in the app's Settings at any time, or delete the app.
1. About this policy
This policy covers the ActivityTimer app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, and Windows, published by 2A Software Developers ("we", "us", or "our"). ActivityTimer has no account, no subscription, and no online services, so for this app this policy takes the place of our general Privacy Policy.
2. What the app stores on your device
To work, the app saves the following on your device:
- Activities: the name, color, and kind (timed or check-off) of each activity you create or keep, and any daily or weekly target.
- Sessions: which activity each session belongs to, when it started and ended, and any note you add to it.
- Check-offs: the days you mark a check-off activity as done.
- The current timer: which activity is running or paused, when it started, and how long it has run.
- Settings: your choices in the app's Settings, such as confirmations, haptics, the first day of the week, and appearance.
This data is kept in your device's standard storage for apps. The app never sends it anywhere. We can't see it, and we don't have a copy of it.
3. What we collect
Nothing. The app has no account and doesn't send your data to us or to anyone else. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking tools, and it doesn't connect to the internet.
4. Features that use your device
- The timer outside the app. While a timer runs or is paused, the app can show it in these places:
- on iPhone, as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (on iPhones that have one), which iOS can also show on a paired Apple Watch;
- on Android, as an ongoing notification, which can also appear in the status bar;
- in a home screen widget on iPhone, iPad, and Android, if you add one; and
- on a Mac, in the menu bar, which also lists your activities so you can start one from there.
- Noticing time away (Mac and Windows). While a timer runs, the app checks every so often how long it has been since the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad was last used. If the computer goes unused for 15 minutes or more, the app asks when you come back whether to keep that time. It only reads how long the computer has been idle, never what you type or click, and it doesn't keep a record of it. You can turn this off with Ask about time away in the app's Settings.
- Haptics. The app uses your device's vibration, or the trackpad on a Mac, for small taps as timers start and stop. You can turn this off in the app's Settings.
- Display settings. The app reads display settings such as light or dark mode, accent color, and transparency and contrast preferences, so that it matches your device. These are used only to draw the app, and are not stored or shared.
5. Exported files and backups
The app doesn't back up or sync your data automatically. If you want a copy, choose Export as CSV in the app's Settings. This saves your activities, sessions, and check-offs, but not your settings, as a CSV file in a place you choose. You can bring them back later with Restore from CSV, on the same device or another one.
An exported file is outside the app and under your control. It isn't encrypted, and anyone who has it can open it in a spreadsheet. If you save it to a cloud service such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or OneDrive, or send it to someone, that service handles it under its own privacy policy. We never receive it.
Your device's own backup service, such as iCloud Backup, Android backup, or a backup of your computer, may also include the app's data along with your other apps. Those backups are handled by the backup provider under its own privacy policy, and we have no access to them.
6. Information from app stores
When you download the app, the store you use (the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store) handles that under its own privacy policy. The stores may give us summary statistics, such as download counts, and crash reports from people who have agreed in their device settings to share them with developers. These reports don't contain the activities or sessions you record. We use them only to see how the app is doing and to fix problems.
7. Deleting your data
- To delete your activities, sessions, and check-offs, along with any running or paused timer, open Settings in the app and choose Erase all data. This can't be undone. Your settings are kept.
- To delete everything, including your settings, delete the app from your device. On a Mac, macOS can keep an app's data after the app is deleted, so choose Erase all data first.
- If the app ever finds its saved data damaged, it keeps a copy on your device so it isn't lost. Erase all data doesn't remove that copy; it goes along with the rest of the app's data when you delete the app.
- CSV files you've exported aren't affected by either. Delete them wherever you saved them.
- Copies in device backups are removed according to your backup provider's settings.
Because we never receive your data, we can't view, export, or delete it for you.
8. Children
The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. It can be used by people of any age, subject to the age rules of the store you download it from.
9. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and California's CCPA give you rights over personal data that a company holds about you. We don't collect or hold any data from ActivityTimer, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. Your data stays on your device, under your control. We do not sell or share personal information.
10. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how it handles data, for example by adding an optional backup or sync feature, we will update this policy and its effective date before that version is released.
